FORENSIC TOXICOLOGY INSTALLATION STANDARDS KIT
I. INT RODUCTION
The Waters Forensic Toxicology Installation Standards Kit (Part
Number 186007361) is intended for use as a qualitative retention
time standard for LC-MS applications using positive ion electrospray.
The kit contains three components:
1. Forensic Toxicology Installation Standard (186007361-1)
The components and concentrations in this analytical standard
can be seen in Table 1. The standard is shipped in a crimp
top vial containing 1.5 mL of solution in a matrix of 5 mM
ammonium formate at pH 3.00.
Table 1. Component Concentrations

2. Ammonium Formate Concentrate (186007361-2)
A concentrated solution of ammonium formate which makes a
pH controlled buffer solution intended for use as mobile phase
for LC (see IV. Buffer Preparation). Diluted as specified, the final
solution is 5mM ammonium formate at pH 3.0. This solution is
shipped in a 15 mL brown Nalgene
®
bottle containing 10 mL of
concentrate in a matrix of water with 9.75 % formic acid.
3. Formic Acid (186007361-3)
Formic acid is used to adjust the pH of the ammonium formate
buffer (see IV. Buffer Preparation). Shipped in a 2 mL amber
flame sealed ampoule containing 1mL of ≥ 98% formic acid and
once opened store any unused acid in the supplied Waters LCMS
Certified Screw Top Vial (186005668CV).
