Low Force Load Cells
Low Force Load Cell
When you need to use a low force load cell, you can mount it onto a system
load cell, called mounting in tandem. You must attach the low force load cell
cable to the load frame. Because the low force load cell (see figure on right)
uses the accelerometer on the system load cell to send information to the
conditioner in the controller, it is not necessary to connect another
accelerometer to the low force load cell. For the procedure on how to tandem
mount load cells, see
Mounting Optional Low Force Load Cells in Tandem
(p. 186).
Mounting a Load Cell on the Actuator
Important:
When mounting the load cell, ensure that the cables are properly routed and restrained to prevent
abrasion and so that the actuator can attain full travel without stressing the cable ends.
Attaching System Load Cell to Actuator
1. If not already attached, attach the accelerometer cable to the load cell in the slot marked “Acceleration”
using the quick-disconnect plug.
2. If not already attached, attach the load cell cable to the load cell in the slot marked “Load” using the
quick-disconnect plug.
3. Lubricate the load cell mounting bolts.
4. If necessary, raise the crosshead so you have enough space to work between the crosshead and table:
a) Move the left and right crosshead locks to the fully unlocked position.
b) Press the Exclusive Control button on the frame-mounted control. Using the crosshead control
buttons on the frame-mounted control, move the crosshead up so there is enough space in which
to mount the spring platens.
c) Move the left and right crosshead locks to the fully locked position.
