6. Set Specimen Displacement Limits.
a) Determine Specimen Displacement Limits.
For a compression test, like the MTS Acumen Spring Test, the initial actuator position should be set
to 20% of full extension or 14 mm. That leaves 56 mm actuator travel remaining. Full compression
of the spring is considered to be 45 mm which leaves 11 mm of over-travel if the actuator is allowed
to go to full stroke. As a result, set the upper limit to 35 mm and the lower displacement to -24 mm
(35 mm - 11 mm = 24 mm acceptable travel).
b) Set the Specimen Displacement Limits to +35 mm and - 24 mm.
