Designing Your Own Document Templates
To create alignment guides on a page:

Go to the page to which you want to add the alignment guides.

Click outside the main body of your document so that the insertion point is not
visible.

Choose View > Show Rulers.

Place the pointer on a ruler and drag the blue alignment guide wherever you want on
the page. (You can change the color of the alignment guides using Pages
Preferences.)
Step 2: Defining Styles
A template must have default styles defined for the following elements of a
document:
 Paragraph styles
 Character styles
 List styles
 Table of contents styles
 Text box styles
 Shape styles
 Table styles
 Chart styles
 Text wrap around objects
You can customize any of these for the template you are creating, or you can use the
defaults that already exist in the template you started with (including the Blank
template).
