The PowerBlade PBC18 can also be remotely managed with a SNMP
management program, such as HP Openview. This method, however,
does not use the Omega interface.
If you intend to manage the chassis from a management station using
an SNMP management program, you need to load the chassis’
Management Information Base (MIB) file onto the management station.
(The MIB file is available from the Allied Telesyn web site.) This requires
that you use a MIB compiler to compile the file. To load the MIB file onto
a management station, follow the instructions included with your MIB
compiler.
For non-IP environments, you can use a MAC address to connect to a
remote system as long as there are no routers between the two chassis’.
