Creating Pairs
WARNING:
The Business Copy paircreate operation overwrites all existing data on the S-VOLs. The user
is responsible for backing up the data on the S-VOLs before creating Business Copy pairs.
The Paircreate dialog box (see
on page 66) allows you to select the S-VOLs for each P-VOL, set
the copy pace for all pairs being created, and start the paircreate operations. Information about how to
create normal pairs or cascaded L1 pairs, see “

To create new Business Copy pairs and then split them immediately so that you can access the S-VOLs as
soon as possible, use the Pairsplit dialog box instead of the Paircreate dialog box to create and split new
pairs at the same time (see “
” on page 71 for instructions).

The Paircreate dialog box consists of the following components.

Paircreate Volume List
The Volume List located on the upper side of the Paircreate dialog box displays the following
information pertaining to the P-VOL and S-VOL used for creating a pair:
• P-VOL: Information about P-VOL is displayed in AAA-BB-CCC(XX:YY:ZZ) format.
• AAA: The port ID (cluster and channel number)
• BB: The group number of host group
• CCC:
LU
number
• XX:YY:ZZ: LDKC number:CU number:LDEV number
Note:
An LDEV number that ends with a # mark indicates that the LDEV is an external volume
(for example, 00:00:01#). An LDEV number that ends with a letter X indicates that the LDEV is
a virtual volume used by XP Thin Provisioning (for example, 00:00:01X). For details regarding
