Problem: Cannot Turn on the Interface Manager
If the IM will not power on, use the following procedure to diagnose the
problem:
1. Verify that all power connections, breakers, and switch settings are
powered-on and are set correctly.
2. Confirm that the power indicator on the power supplies are illuminated
green. If not green, the IM is inoperable, and further diagnostic
procedures cannot be performed.
3. Contact the sales representative or an HP service representative.
Problem: Cannot Confirm the Library Connection (Windows NT)
Note
The NT discovery process is not dynamic. When SCSI devices
are powered on after the host, the control panel will not display
their connection until the host is re-booted.
1. Confirm the library connection by using the Control Panel menu on the
server to review the SCSI device folder.
2. Before powering-on the IM, make sure the library and drives are
configured for SCSI. This can be done through the library’s front panel.
3. Make sure the libraries, IM, and switch are powered-on and connected
appropriately before powering on hosts. If they were not connected,
powered on, and configured properly before the host was powered-on,
restart the host (and any other on the loop, one at a time).
4. If the host does not display the SCSI devices under the Fibre Channel HBA
in the control panel, restart the host, and then recheck for the appearance
of the library SCSI devices.
5. Run the tape diagnostic utility from the host to verify that the library and
drives are detected and pass all self-tests.
6. Verify SCSI bus configuration: Check all appropriate devices for the
following conditions:
— Termination: Problems with termination can cause intermittent or hard
failure.
