Problem - Solution
This section describes potential problems and solutions. If you are unable to
diagnose and solve a problem using these guidelines, contact an HP service
representative or your sales representative. By using these suggested
procedures, you can determine in advance some of the information that a
service technician will need.
Problem: Drives Not Detected after Power Failure to both the Interface
Manager (IM) and the Library
Before proceeding, make sure the library has completed all power on self tests.
The Interface Manager has no direct communication path to the library.
Consequently, after power is lost to both the IM and the library, the IM does
not know when the drives will be available to be accessed aver SCSI. If the IM
scans the SCSI buses before the drives are ready, it will not find the drives. You
have three options to have the IM re-scan the SCSI buses.
Option 1 - Not Using Telnet or the Web Interface
1. Open the back of the library.
2. Unplug the Interface Manager power cord.
3. Plug the power cord back into the Interface Manager.
Option 2 - Using Telnet
1. Log in as described in
2. Select
[1] to access the Administration menu.
3. Select
[4] to restart the entire Interface Manager.
Option 3 - Using the Web Interface
1. Access the Web Administrator as described in
2. Select
the
[Operations] tab.
3. Select
the [Reboot] page.
4. Click on the [Reboot Interface Manager] button.
5. Supply the administration password.
