The PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM is used to make announcements from any of up to 256 PA STATIONS to
any of up to 511 PA ZONES within your park or attraction. The muting system can be used to mute any
of up to eight full-mute zones, or 'half-mute' any of up to eight half-mute zones. Each DR-300 or DR-400
Digital Audio Repeater / Mixer card contains what is in effect a telephone switching network's three
dimensional switching array.
When an operator selects a PA zone by pressing an enabled button on any of the PA STATIONS, all
the audio tracks in that zone drop to the half muted volume level and the audio from the microphone at
the requesting PA STATION is routed to the outputs. Up to sixteen PA STATIONS and PA zones can be used
at any time for accessing across PA zones. Any number of stations can access their own LOCAL PA
OUTPUTs simultaneously.
The full and half-mute zones are accessed by pressing an enabled button on any of the SMART PA
STATIONS. These buttons are normally configured to operate in a 'push on/push off' mode. If you mute a
zone at one SMART PA STATION, you can un-mute it at any other that has access to that zone.
Whether a given audio track will respond to a PA or mute command is set in the configuration mode
for each card. Any individual card can respond to up to eight different PA ZONE, MUTE ZONE or HALF
MUTE ZONE requests. LOCAL PA OUTPUTS can each be configured to respond to up to four different PA
zone requests.
Three LEDs on the front of each Digital Audio Repeater / Mixer show any and all PA and Muting
system activity. The 'P.A.' LED lights whenever a card receives a valid command for a PA announcement.
The '1/2' LED shows any Half Mute request. The 'MUTE' LED lights for any Full Mute request. Since PA
requests also Half-Mute the audio, the '1/2' LED will also light during PA requests.
