their A and B inputs tied together by inserting a jumper into the 'CHAIN STARTS' jumpers. The jumpers are
inserted horizontally. If you are using external power, then you can only use the CHAIN STARTS jumpers if
the COMMON connection is also tied together between the cards.
The power supply connections to each CC-1600 is made to 6 screw terminals on the left of each
card cage:
-15 Volts
Ground
+ 15 Volts
Logic +5 Volts
Isolated Ground
Isolated +15 Volts
The power connections to the CC-400 are usually made from the 5 pin 180¡ Din style connector
from the PS-100 Power Supply. This power supply provides +/- 12 VDC rather than +/- 15 VDC, and no
separate isolated supply for the start and status inputs and outputs. If you need to use another power
supply with a CC-400 card cage, cut the traces where shown on the back of the card cage and attach
the power supply to the screw terminals as shown for a CC-1600.
There are four additional connectors on the back of each card cage. These are used to link together
card cages in installations with more than one card cage. These are:
1) Digital Data: Used to link the clock and control signals between card cages. If your installation
doesn't use the PA system, the only data which travels through this cable is the master clock
for the Repeaters and the serial data lines to and from the Repeater cards. This cable can be
omitted as long as one card in each cage is enabled for clocking the other Repeaters and
you don't need to use the serial data lines to communicate with the entire system. This cable
must be used if you are using the PA system options.
2) PA: Used to carry the analog PUBLIC ADDRESS signals between cages. If there is no PA system
used, this cable is not needed. As this cable carries audio signals, it should be routed away
from any digital or high voltage lines.
3) Mix Buss: Used to link the GLOBAL / MIX BUS between card cages. Depending on your
application, it will be advantageous to eliminate this cable, or only use it to connect card
cages where it is actually needed to link the MIX/GLOBAL BUS. The GLOBAL/MIX BUS connector
may also be used for feeding external single-ended signals to the GLOBAL BUS. As this cable
carries audio signals, it should be routed away from any digital or high voltage lines.
4) VCA Buss: This connection can be used to link the VCA BUS between card cages, or as a
convenient place to feed in external VCA control signals to the system. It is compatible with a
1/2 J-6/A analog output cable from Gilderfluke & Company's Animation Control Systems.
