arget Distance
The distance between the applicator tip and the
article being painted should be 10-14 inches (.25m-
.36m) for a single head applicator and at or near
the convergence point for dual head applicator.
Excessive distance causes a waste of coating
material and wrap back (paint particles being
deposited on the applicator body or the robot arm).
At close distances the voltage at the tip of the
applicator will be reduced, which decreases the
charging effect of the applicator.
>
If target distance is less than 8 inches
(.20m), an arc could occur.

air turned off, and the bell cup completely
spun-down before the change-out can oc-
