After assembly, number the batteries and take “as received” readings, including specific gravity, cell voltage,
and temperature. Designate one cell as the pilot cell. This is usually the cell with either the lowest specific grav-
ity or voltage. Refer to the manufacturer's literature for guidelines. See the following table for typical maintenance
