Power Divider Overhaul
Assemble Output Shaft
NOTE:
Lubricate parts with gear lube during assembly.
1.
Press
bearing cone on output
shaft side gear.
IMPORTANT:
Provide protection
against possible gear teeth
damage during press operation.
2.
Mount output shaft in vise.
Lubricate and install "O" rings. If
removed, install bushing in end of
output shaft.
3.
If removed, install inner snap
ring on shaft, then install side gear
and bearing cone assembly, and
outer snap ring.

SNAP RING IS
NOTE:
Late Model Axles may
SPRING STEEL AND MAY POP
OFF. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES
WHEN INSTALLING.

Assemble Inter-axle Differential
1.
Install bushings, side pinions
and thrust washers on inter-axle
differential spider.
2. Install spider assembly in one
differential case half, align punch
marks and install other case half.
Secure assembly with bolts and
locknuts. Tighten to correct torque
(17-23 ft-lbs., 23-31 N´m).
NOTE: Side Pinion Bushings.
Not used on tandems built after
November 1, 1991. Use when
originally equipped.
Assembling Non-Current Production Inter-Axle Differentials.
NOTE 1:
Starting in June 1993, production axles were made with
bushingless output shaft 128736. Do not attempt to install bushings in
shafts with P/NÍs 128736 or 129194* stamped into them. Ref. bulletin
AXIB-93-06 *(output shaft w/metric threads used in axles after 1-3-95)
