S400 Helical Gear Retrofit Kit Installation Instructions
Shown below you will find complete set of installations regarding the disassembly and reassembly for a S400 power
divider using redesigned helical gear replacement components. The redesigned components include the helical side gear,
inter-axle differential and the output side gear. These components must be used in sets and are NOT interchangeable
with original design production parts. These parts and procedures are specific to only the model listed below.

Kit Content: 1- 130953 Helical Side Gear Assembly, 1- 401HS101 Helical Side Gear Thrust Washer,
1- 130929 Output Side Gear, 1- 130937 IAD Assembly

Disassembly Instructions:
Refer to Dana Service manual SHABD 195-1 for more detailed instruction
1. Block vehicle tires and disconnect driveline.
2. Drain lube into a clean container.
3. Remove power divider case assembly.
4. Remove shift cylinder cover, piston, shift rod, fork and spring.
5. Remove input yoke nut and yoke.
6. Remover input bearing retainer.
7. Remove input shaft assembly.
8. Remove the helical side gear, inter-axle differential assembly, lube retainer (note 1), output side gear and helical
side gear thrust washer.
NOTE 1: The “Lube Retainer” Dana p/n 390HR100 has been obsoleted. Discard this part when doing the reassembly of
the power divider section.
