No. Question
Answer
1
Is it possible back-up multiple songs on the
same disc?
No, it is not.
Only a single song can be backed up on one disc.
2
How do I make the unit record MIDI data?
This unit cannot record MIDI data.
However, you can copy an SMF (standard MIDI file) from a computer
by USB and play it back (see “SMF playback” on page 95 for details).
3
I cannot erase a scene memory.
Scene memories cannot be erased. Please overwrite them instead.
4
I cannot control the parameters of the internal
effects with an expression pedal.
You can control the 4th stage of the internal multi-effect (flanger,
phaser, chorus, exciter, pitch shifter, tremolo, vibrato and wah). Press
the MULTI key to open the MULTI EFFECT screen and select the
fourth tab screen from the left. On this screen set the PEDAL param-
eter to ON to allow control of an effect parameter with an expression
pedal (see (“Editing the multi-effect” on page 41 for details).
5
I can hear the sound of the input source even
during track playback.
When an input is assigned to a channel, the signal from that input is
always mixed in and can be heard. If you do not want to mix in the input
sound, hold down the INPUT key of the input that the signal is on and
press the SELECT key of the channel that this input is assigned to (it lights
when you press the INPUT key).
6
The sound of effects seems different when the
multi-effect is assigned to an input and when it
is assigned to a channel.
The multi-effect sounds different depending on whether the
assigned input or channel is mono or stereo.
Check the stereo link status of the input and the channel.
7
How do I record the multi-effect in stereo?
Assign the multi-effect to an input after linking a pair of adjacent
inputs. The two linked inputs are each assigned and recorded to
separate tracks.
8
Even though I lowered a fader, I can still hear
just the reverb sound.
Is the effect send switch set to “PRE”? The effect will be applied if
the effect send switch is set to “PRE” regardless of the fader position.
Press the SEND key to open the EFFECT SEND screen and set the
effect send to POST (see “Effect send” on page 32 for further details).
9
When using multiple mics to record, sometimes
the sound gets quieter when I raise the faders.
This can happen when the mics are out of phase. Press the FADER/
PAN key to open the FADER/PAN screen where you can change the
phase of input signals (see “Phase” on page 32 for further details.)
10
I mixed down a track and burned it to a CD.
When I listen to this CD on my home stereo,
though, the level is lower than a commercial CD.
Commercial CDs are often mastered to maximize the level for a digital
recording. Moreover, compressors and other effects might have been
used to increase the perceived level. You can use this unit’s mastering
compressor to increase the overall loudness of your track.
11
I do not understand how to use the “COPY
FROM -> TO” track editing function.
When IN, OUT and FROM points are set, this function allows a
section of audio to be copied in relation to the FROM and TO posi-
tions while the relative positions of the IN, OUT and FROM points are
maintained. (The FROM point does not even need to be set between
the IN and OUT points).
This function is convenient when, for example, you want to copy a
recorded passage that overlaps bars so that it lines up with a bar.
For example, imagine that you want to copy the sound of some fire-
works. You want to copy from the time that the fireworks are launched
from the ground, but you want to align the moment that the fireworks
explode to be on the first beat of a bar. To do this, set the IN point at
the launch of the fireworks, the FROM point at the explosion, and the
OUT point at the end of the sound. Then, set the TO point at the start
of the bar to copy the entire clip so that the sound of the fireworks
exploding occurs on the first beat of the bar.
