Getting ready to use the R-1

Turn off the power of the R-1.

Turn the output volume all the way toward the left to minimize the volume.

Connect the R-1’s line output jack to your amplified speakers.
You will need an audio cable for connection to the R-1's line output jack.
Cables are not included; you will need to provide them separately.
Now you can use the R-1 for recording or playback as described in “Basic recording
methods” (p. 29) or “Playback methods” (p. 38).

Gradually turn the output volume toward the right to increase the volume.
You can also adjust the volume of your speakers.
