Determining the DS8000 WWNN with the DS GUI

To determine the DS8000 WWNN with the DS GUI:

1. Click

Real-time manager.

2. Click

Manage hardware.

3. Click

Storage images (not the Storage Unit).

4. Click in the

Select column for the DS8000 Storage Image, and from the Select Action

menu, select

Properties.

5. The DS8000 Storage Image WWNN is displayed in the subsequent properties panel.

Determining the DS8000 WWNN with the DS CLI

In Example 28-5 we show how to display the WWNN of a DS8000 Storage Image using the

lssi

command.

Example 28-5 Determine the WWNN of a DS8000

Listing the available ports using the DS CLI

Having determined the remote devices WWNN, we can now display the ports that are
available to establish PPRC paths. In Example 28-6 we are logged onto the DS8000 using
DS CLI, so the remote device is the DS6000. We display ports available to establish paths
between LSS 14 on the DS8000 and LSS 18 on the DS6000.

Example 28-6 Displaying available ports for PPRC path establishment

Establishing the logical paths using DS CLI

Having determined which ports are available for each LSS pair that you wish to copy and
mirror between, you now establish a one-way path using the

mkpprcpath

command. You can

then display established paths using the

lspprcpath

command.

In Example 28-7, we first established a single path between LSS 14 on the DS8000 and LSS
18 on the DS6000. We then displayed the paths available for LSS 14 on the DS8000.

Note: When using the

lsavailpprcport

command you must specify LSSs that actually

exist.
