❏ When the camera is not used for long period of time,

remove the batteries and store them at a low
temperature in a dry location. This prevents camera
damage from battery leaks or corrosion.

Do not store the camera in the following locations:

❏ Where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, for

example, on a car dashboard

❏ Near sources of bright light or high humidity

❏ Near heat sources or in a closed car

❏ In areas of excessive dirt or dust

❏ Where it will be exposed to strong vibrations or

magnetic fields

Camera Problems

Before you call for help, check this list of problems and
possible solutions.

The camera has no power.

Make sure the lens cover is open all the way. The power
comes on automatically when the lens cover is
opened fully.

The camera may have shut off automatically. Close and
open the lens cover to turn the power back on.

Check the batteries and make sure they are installed
correctly. Replace the batteries if necessary, following
the instructions on page 15.

If you are using the AC adapter, make sure it is plugged
into a working outlet.

You cannot take a picture with the camera.

The flash may be recharging. Wait until the status light
beside the viewfinder turns green, and try again.

The camera may be connected to your computer. When
it is connected, you cannot use any of the controls on
the camera itself. See page 53 for instructions on
taking pictures from your computer.

The camera’s memory may be full. Check the picture
counter on the display panel. Erase some pictures
using the LCD monitor, or transfer the pictures to
your computer and then erase them.

To use your computer to transfer and erase pictures,
see page 44.
