Troubleshooting tools
The following troubleshooting utilities can be found on NewsBrowse machines in the
Windows menu

MediaFrame troubleshooting tools
LogViewer
— This utility is available on all NewsBrowse machines and provides a log
of information and errors for services running on that particular device.
Asset System Client
— This utility on the MDI server provides a view of the events
generated by Managed Device Interface services configured in the system.
Configuration Tool
— This tool can check network connectivity (ping) from the
NewsBrowse server to all the machines in the NewsBrowse system. Open the
configuration tool on the NewsBrowse server at

Remoting Host Controller
— This utility on the MDI server manages Profile Managed
Device processes.
Transfer 1.0
— This is an application by which you have visibility via the MDIs to the
media files on managed devices. You can do a manual drag-and-drop transfer
between devices in Transfer 1.0.
The PC on which Transfer 1.0 is installed must be on the Production network to allow
the required access to managed devices. For example, it might be helpful to install
Transfer 1.0 on a NewsEdit client machine.
The requirements for a Transfer client PC are as follows:
• Windows XP
• Pentium 4 processor
• Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
To install and use Transfer 1.0, do the following:
1. Enter the following URL in a browser:
