Overview of RMI

Aurora Ingest - RMI is an application that lets you simultaneously ingest files from
multiple removable media devices such as Infinity, Panasonic P2 and Sony XDCAM.

You can choose whether to run a Standalone RMI or RMI client during the installation.
The Standalone RMI does not need Aurora Ingest Server in order to import files from
removable media devices. Only a local database is required, to ensure that the
Standalone RMI can recognize previously imported clips and disks. The Standalone
RMI can also be configured with SDB Server, XMOS Server and MediaFrame Server.

RMI allows you to preview, trim, import and record footages from those removable
media devices into the NewsShare DSM (Database System Manager) or directly into
K2 Summit. RMI that imports directly into K2 Summit can either be saved into shared
Summit storage or into a single standalone Summit. RMI cannot be setup to import
to a combination of shared and standalone Summits or a combination of multiple
standalone Summits.

With RMI, you can preview proxy clips from Sony XDCAM material before import.
As part of the supported XDCAM series, RMI also supports Sony EX media import.

If MediaFrame is already configured within your ingest operation system, you can
add, edit and apply metadata to clips imported via RMI. The metadata that had been
entered will be searchable within the MediaFrame database.
