Configure VRRP group attributes:
a.
On the VRRP group page of GigabitEthernet 0/1, click the
icon corresponding to VRRP
group 1.
b.
Select Preemptive from the Preempt Mode field.
c.
Enter 5 in the Delay field.
d.
Select Simple from the Authentication field.
e.
Enter hello in the Key field.
f.
Enter 5 in the Advertise Time field.
g.
Click Apply.

Verifying the configuration
After the configuration, Host A can ping Host B. You can view the VRRP group information on
GigabitEthernet 0/1 on Device A and Device B. In VRRP group 1, Device A is the master and Device B
is the backup. Device A is responsible for forwarding packets sent from Host A to Host B.
If the interface that connects Device A to the Internet fails, Host A can still ping Host B. In this case, the
VRRP group information on the two devices shows that Device A becomes a backup with the priority 80
and Device B becomes the master. Device B forwards the packets from Host A to Host B.
