Filling Out the Card Encoding Form

Encoding Mag Cards

6

Fill in the data for each field. You must define the data for every field represented on your card
layout. Do not leave blank spaces. The # Digits/Field line implies the numbers that need to go
in each field. The first column is provided to write reference information (for example,
employee name, account name, and so on). This column of information is not encoded on the
card but may be embossed on the card. Ensure that you use the format YYMM (for example,
9712) for the EXP Date field.
Note: When completing the form for a dual card, ensure that you indicate the field separators

as applicable, in the fields that are not encoded on that card.

The following two pages show a sample Mag Card layout and a sample Mag Card Encoding
Form for a standard configuration. The card layout and Card Encoding Form is attached to the
back of this manual. The field names and layout may differ from the samples, depending on
your configuration. Photocopy the form as needed before you begin to list your card data.

A blank form is also provided in this section for your use in defining special format cards
(Fuel Delivery, Dipstick, Totalizer, Fueler ID, Fuel Point, and Access). To complete the blank
form, fill in the information at the top of the page and then, follow Steps

and

above. Use

the customized card layout to fill in the field headings in the blank areas at the top of the
columns. Then, fill in your data.
