Encoding Mag Cards
5 – Encoding Mag Cards
There are several options available for encoding cards. You can encode cards yourself, have
them encoded for you by Gasboy, or send them to a card encoding company. In any case, you
must fill in a Card Encoding Form to guide you. A customized Card Encoding Form and your
card layout is attached to this manual. Photocopy this form to list all your cards for encoding.
Save the original for future requirements.
Encoding your Mag Stripe Cards
Encoding your own Mag Stripe cards requires a device capable of encoding ABA Track II. If
desired, you can purchase the following Gasboy products to encode your own cards:
• MCE 300 Mag Card Encoder (P/N C05911) or MCE 300HE High Energy Mag Card
Encoder (P/N C06187) and data terminal (if desired).
• PC/MCE Interface Package (PCS010), a software program that lets you operate the Mag
Card Encoder through a Personal Computer (PC).
To encode cards, complete the Card Encoding Form and then follow the instructions provided
with your Mag Card Encoder.
Ordering Encoded Cards from Gasboy
You can order encoded cards through your Gasboy distributor. Complete the Card Encoding
Form and give it to your distributor to be included with the card encoding order. Ensure that
the order information section of the form is also completed. Consult your Gasboy distributor
for available card colors. Card encoding orders with insufficient information will be returned
for correction. For queries, contact your Gasboy distributor.
