Format

LABEL [d:] [volume string]

Remarks

The volume label may be up to 11 characters in length. LABEL only
uses the first 11 characters of a volume label.

The characters used in a volume label are the same ones used for a
file name.

When Label prompts you, enter the new label and press enter to
modify the existing label:

Volume label (11 characters, ENTER for none)?

If a volume label has previously been assigned to a disk, and you do
not enter a new volume label, the following message prints:

Delete current volume label (Y/N)?

If the disk did not have a volume label prior to running the LABEL
command, the above message does not appear.

Examples

LABEL a:

Displays the volume label of drive A, if one exists, and allows it to be
modified or deleted.
