Formatting a Disk
In order to load or save a file to a floppy disk or an external SCSI drive, it is necessary to format the
disk in order to use it with the MPC2000XL.
CAUTION: Once the disk is formatted, all the data on the disk will be erased.
Formatting a Floppy Disk

Insert a floppy disk into the disk drive of the MPC2000XL, hold SHIFT and press LOAD (3
on the numeric keypad). Press
FORMAT [F3] to display the format screen.
2 By selecting Floppy in the Device: field, the following screen will appear.
SAVE LOAD FORMAT DO IT
Device: Floppy Type:2HD
THIS WILL ERASE THE WHOLE DISK!! THIS WILL ERASE THE WHOLE DISK!!

3 Select the type of disk in the Type: field. The MPC2000XL can use both 2DD and 2HD
floppy disks, but cannot differentiate between the two if the disk is not formatted. Make
sure the correct type is selected in the
Type: field.
4 By pressing DO IT [F5], the following window appears.

CLOSE DO IT
THIS WILL ERASE THIS WILL ERASE

5 Pressing DO IT [F5] to format the disk.
When the disk is formatted, the following screen appears.
If you do not want to format any more disks, press MAIN SCREEN to return to the main screen.
