Presence effects
Various modes for reproducing the effects of pres­
ence are available. Select the mode according to the
played source or the component in your system.
DEPTH modes * gg
These modes control the feeling of depth in the
sound. They can be used regardless of the num­
ber of speakers and the played source.
Available modes:
VOCAL, INST (Instrumental)
DSP presence modes
Front 4-channel (F.4CH) mode
Four kinds of presence effects can be reproduced easily
through the front and OMNI speakers.
Available sound fields:
ARENA, JAZZ CLUB, STADIUM, MOVIE
Front 2-channel (F.2CH) mode
Presence effects can be reproduced with the front speak­
ers alone. Four kinds of presence effects can be reproduced
similarly to the front 4-channel mode.
Available sound fields:
ARENA, JAZZ CLUB, STADIUM, MOVIE
DOLBY3 STEREO mode * gg
This mode can be used with video software
programs recorded with ordinary stereo au­
dio. It improves the acoustic acoustic image
positioning of words, etc., by applying a pro­
cessing called directional enhancement and
using a center speaker.

DOLBY PRO LOGIC SURROUND mode • ^
When a videotape or LD software program carrying
miDoiBywiHHouiMii mark is played in this mode, the
similar Dolby Surround effect to movie theaters can
be enjoyed with full of presence.
The use of surround rear speakers (optional) is re­
quired when using this mode.
The presence effect can be further improved by con­
necting the center speaker (optional).

What is DSP?
DSP stands for Digital Signal Processor. The way the sound reverberates is variable depending on various conditions. The front 4-
channel and front 2-channel modes use the DSP to create the reverberation components (sound reverberation elements in various
spaces) determining the presence effect from ordinary 2-channel stereo audio.
