A Local Area Network (LAN) connector is used for connections to a
PC or LAN.
AUX1 connector can be used to power analog sensors. The leftmost
pin (the pin closest to the LAN connector) provides a switched source
of power. Power is automatically switched off when the Spider enters
the
“
sleep state
”
, thus greatly reducing system power consumption. A
warm-up period of approximately 4 seconds is provided when the unit
re-enters active state.
NOTE: Voltage provided by the power pin on the auxiliary connector
will vary based on the source of power (i.e., AC power supply or
battery). The pin is able to source up to 500mA of current.
An example of how to connect a two-wire 4-20 mA sensor to the
Spider using the switched power pin on the AUX1 connector is shown
below:
AUX2 connector is not used in a standard Spider. It is reserved for
future enhancements and special applications.
