Appendix H: Testing E-mail Connectivity
Spider units fitted with e-mail options provide a quick and simple way
of confirming proper e-mail operation.
You can send test e-mails at any time using the built-in keypad and
display. E-mails are sent to the
“
Test e-mail address
”
, as configured
in the
“
E-mail Settings
”
browser screen.
Sending Test e-mails
Once you set up a new Spider and enter all required Network / E-mail
parameters, ensure that it is connected to the appropriate network as
selected by the e-mail sending method. Repeatedly and briefly press
the keypad key until the display shows:
Send test email?
Press and hold the key for longer than 3 seconds. The unit will
display:
Sending email
…
The keypad will not respond to key presses while the message above
is displayed. After a period of time (usually less than 30 seconds), the
following outcome will display:
Email sent OK !
OR
Email failed !
A successful outcome verifies full e-mail connectivity. Otherwise, you
may wish to Monitor Test e-mails to find the reason for the failure.
