The multiplexer is shown in close-up. The channels
are marked, but are quite hard to read. This
diagram shows the channel numbers where the
“return” fibers attach.
The fiber at the #10 position connects to the #10
position on the lamp box. The fiber at the center is
the internal reference channel, and runs to the
monochromator box.
The instrument contains a catastrophic shutdown
temperature control, shown at right. This
instrument is set at 120 degrees F.
If the temperature of the instrument (inside)
exceeds the preset temperature, the instrument
will be shut down for safety.
This photo shows the monochromator at left. Note
the stainless housings on the right side.
The lower box contains the tungsten halogen
illumination lamp, pointing upward.
The upper box is for fiber routing to each channel.
