Cummins Engines -
1.
To vent the low pressure lines and fuel filters,
open the vent screw (Figure 40 or 40A). Operate
the hand plunger on the lift pump, until fuel
flowing from the fitting is free of air. Tighten the
vent screw and torque it to 6 lb-ft (8 Nm).
Caution
When using the starting motor to vent the system,
DO NOT energize starter solenoid or crank the
engine for more than 15 seconds at a time; wait two
minutes between engagements.
6.
Turn ignition key to the START position and
operate starter until fuel, free from air, comes from
the injector and Thermo Start fuel line fittings.
Turn ignition switch OFF. Tighten all fittings.
7.
Close and lock both access doors. The engine is
now ready to start.
