Relief Valve System Check
1.
Place apparatus out of service in accordance with departmental
procedures.
2.
Test relief valve system in accordance with weekly maintenance check.
Also see heading “Relief Valve Test” on page 58.
3.
If the relief valve is not working, clean the strainers as follows:
❑
Open pump compartment panel and locate the relief valve system
strainer(s).
On all relief valve systems, the strainer is located in one of the pump pres-

vacuum ports.
Note: An optional panel-mounted strainer is mounted on some apparatus.
❑
Disconnect tubing then remove strainer from respective tap.
❑
Clean any debris from strainer and check strainer for damage.
❑
Using a suitable thread sealant (Loctite PST or equivalent) reinstall
strainer.
❑
Reconnect tubing.
4.
Test apparatus and check for leaks around strainer fittings.
5.
Place apparatus back in service.
Check Drain Lines to Multi-Drain
Drains are supplied on the pump and piping at the lowest points where water
could collect and freeze, rendering the pump ineffective.
Most of these drains are piped together to a multi-drain to allow the entire sys-
tem to be drained by one valve.
