4. Depending on what is observed in Step 3, perform the following:
• If there are no faults, go to Step 10
• If there are faults and this is the first time power has been applied to the 9700, go to Step 5
• If there are faults and this is the second time power has been applied to the 9700, go to Step 9
5. A Major alarm will be raised if any of the NM ports are enabled, but not connected to an uplink. If there are
unused ports, log into the system and disable them using the DISABLE PORT command. In the following
example, ports 10.1 and 10.2 are unused and have no uplink; therefore, they are generating a Major alarm.
The alarms are cleared by disabling the ports.
Log into the system, input a user ID of officer and a password of officer
