1 Introduction
The Firmware Management Tool (FMT) is a CLI-based tool that can be used to manage the firmware
of StoreAll hardware components.
FMT supports the following operations:
•
Discovering the active firmware version
•
Getting firmware update recommendations
•
Updating (upgrading/downgrading/rewriting) firmware
Installation
FMT is delivered by the Red Hat Package Manager (RPM) and is bundled with the StoreAll Quick
Restore DVD. It is installed during the Quick Restore process. The names of the RPM files are:

FMT tool RPM:
hpsp-fmt-tool-

8200 and 8800 Recipe RPM:
hpsp-fmt-firmware-bundle-8200-8800-

X9720 and 9730 Recipe RPM:
hpsp-fmt-firmware-bundle-x9720-x9730-

9300 and 9320 Recipe RPM:
hpsp-fmt-firmware-bundle-x9300-x9320-7.00-17672.x86_64.rpm
The tool is installed by default on each server node in a StoreAll cluster and is located in the
directory:
/opt/hp/platform/bin
Logging
FMT uses rotational text log files for logging.
The rotational log files are:
firmware.log
firmware.log.1
firmware.log.2
firmware.log.3
firmware.log.4
firmware.log.5
The most recent logs can be found in firmware.log.
These log files are located in the directory:
/var/log/hp/platform/fmt/
Other important log files related to firmware operations using smart components can be found in
the directory:
/var/cpq/
Virtual Connect (component name: VC_Flex-10) related log files: vcsu_
be found in the directory/opt/hp/platform/common/bin/ .
