as initiator ports or RCU target ports before the CESTPATH and CDELPATH commands are
issued.
•
PPRC TSO command parameter support depends on the CU emulation (2105, or 2107). PPRC
command extensions are supported when running with 2105 or 2107 emulation.
•
The PPRC TSO and ICKDSF commands have required and optional parameters that are not
described in detail in this document. For further information on PPRC TSO and PPRCOPY
ICKDSF commands, see the IBM publications Advanced Copy Services (SC35–0355), DFSMS
MVS V1 Remote Copy Guide and Reference (SC35–0169), ICKDSF R16 Refresh User’s Guide
(GC35–0033), and other IBM documents on ICKDSF R16 or later.
•
The PPRC TSO and ICKDSF commands use slightly different command/ keyword names to
provide equivalent PPRC functions. For example, the CESTPAIR TSO command is equivalent
to the PPRCOPY ESTPAIR ICKDSF command. This document describes the PPRC TSO commands.
See the IBM PPRC and ICKDSF documentation for complete information on using PPRCOPY
ICKDSF instead of PPRC TSO commands.
•
When the CESTPATH command is executed, the following processing is performed.
1.
The path that is used before the CESTPATH command is executed but that is not specified
in the CESTPATH command is deleted.
2.
The path that is used before the CESTPATH command is executed and specified in the
CESTPATH command is maintained.
3.
The path that is not used before the CESTPATH command is executed but that is specified
in the CESTPATH command is added.
If you specify to delete all paths that are used before the CESTPATH command is executed,
the pair operation might be suspended because the path does not exist temporarily in the
processing described above.
•
The CESTPATH RESETHP option rejects the host I/O operations. Before you use the RESETHP
option of the CESTPATH command, stop the I/O operations from the host.
•
If the package connected to the host is 2105 or 2107 CU emulation type, set the ‘lss’ parameter
for both the MCU and RCU.
•
If you use PPRC command and register 0xFFXX to SSID of MCU and RCU, the command may
be rejected. Please specify excepting 0xFFXX. (XX of 0xFFXX is given in hexadecimal.)
•
When you issue the QUERY command with the PATH option to R-VOL by using ICKDSF, the
command might be rejected. In this case, please check the path status by using CQUERY TSO
command or Remote Web Console.
•
2105 or 2107 CU Emulation Type of MCU: When the CU emulation type of MCU is 2105 or
2107, and a host system is online to R-VOL, even if you want to create a Cnt Ac-S Z pair by
using the CESTPAIR command, the CESTPAIR command is rejected. If you use the
ONLINSEC(YES), you can create a Continuous Access Synchronous Z pair even though a host
system is online to R-VOL. If you do not use the ONLINSEC (default), or if you use the
ONLINSEC(NO), you cannot create a Continuous Access Synchronous Z pair. If RCU does not
support the 2105 or 2107 CU emulation type, you cannot check whether a host system is
online or not. In this case, if you use the CESTPAIR command, and both MCU and RCU fulfill
the following condition, specify the ONLINSEC(YES).
◦
MCU is P9500, and the host on the MCU side is connected to the package of 2105 or
2107 CU emulation type.
•
When you issue the PPRCOPY SUSPEND command to the pair in the Pending status by using
ICKDSF, the command might be rejected. In this case, suspend the pair by using Remote Web
Console.
CGROUP (FREEZE/RUN) support
The Continuous Access Synchronous Z feature supports the CGROUP (FREEZE/RUN) TSO command
for PPRC, which is also used in IBM’s Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex (GDPS)
environment. The CGROUP TSO command is used to control I/O operations for Continuous Access
Synchronous Z pairs on a specific MCU RCU pair.
