Tape Drive Features
Fast Data Transfer Rate
Used for unattended backups or archiving, the tape drive allows the user to back
up a higher data capacity at a higher speed than earlier products. When
operating in a noncompressed mode, the tape drive has a maximum transfer
rate of 30.0 megabytes/second. When operating in the compressed mode, the
maximum transfer rate is 60.0 megabytes/second.
High-Capacity
The amount of data that can be stored on the LTO 460 tape cartridge can be up to 400
gigabytes (2:1 compression). DLTIIItape, DLTIVtape, or SDLT media cartridges are not
compatible with this tape drive. The size and shape of the tape drive’s media are
similar to those of DLT cartridges in order to make it easy for automation.
Durable Media
The tape media can endure 1,000,000 passes over any part of the tape. It has a shelf
life of 30 years, which provides superior media durability and data reliability.
Embedded Diagnostics
The tape drive provides three levels of embedded diagnostics:
•
The Power-On-Self-Test (POST) performs various verification tests on the
processor’s host interface an device control functions, memory tests at power-up.
•
User Diagnostics include manual control of cartridge movement to assist the user
in diagnosing faults.
•
CE Diagnostics include more advanced diagnostics to be used by service
providers for servicing the tape drive.
Both the User Diagnostics and the CE Diagnostics can be selected from the front
panel.
