6.9 Bleeding the Hydraulic System
6.9.2 Opener Shank Cylinders
The seed drill hydraulic system does not need to be bled during daily use. How-
ever, the system must be bled after it has been serviced, e.g. after changing seals.
If hydraulic servicing has been carried
out on an opener shank cylinder, its
hydraulic circuit must be bled. This is
done by carefully slackening the seed
drill unit hydraulic connection that is
furthest out in the circuit while the
lifting/lowering circuit has hydraulic
pressure applied. When all the air
has been bled out of the system the
coupling is tightened again.
If there is air in the seed drill unit's hydraulic circuit, this will affect the opera-
tion of the entire machine.
6.9.1 Lowering Wing Cylinders
Bleeding of the wing cylinders is done by operating them to their fully extended
and fully retracted positions several times.
DANGER! Do not stand in the areas where the wing sec-
tions and marker arms are lowered while bleeding is being
performed.
