VPN: definition
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a network to interconnect different related sites
on top of an existing network. The sites are trusted, as only trusted people and
authenticated devices have access to these parts of the network. The underlying
network is untrusted, in the sense that people who are not related and
unauthenticated devices have access to it.
