Data Strobe
Input
This signal is a strobe pulse
(DSTB)
for reading data (Data 1 to 8).
The printer reads data when
this signal is low. The pulse
width must be 1

s or more at
the receiving terminal.

20--27 Data 1 to 8
Input
Data 8 (pin 9) is the most
significant bit; however, this
pin is not used in 7-bit ASCII
communications.
Logical 1 signals must go high
at least 1
µ
s before the falling
edge of the Data Strobe signal
and must stay high for at least
1
µ
s after the rising edge.

Acknowledge Output This pulse signal indicates
(ACK)
that the printer has received
data and is ready to accept the
next set of data.
This signal is also sent when
the printer is switched from
offline to online.

Busy
Output Data cannot be received when
this signal is high. This signal
is high during data entry,
when the printer is offline,
when the buffer is full, or
when an error occurs.

Paper Empty
Output This signal is high when the

printer is out of paper.
