Description of the unit
3.1
Mode of Operation
The bidirectional battery inverter feeds the connected batteries with photovoltaic energy and can use this to supply
power to the mains. It also optimises the own consumption*.
The device can be used either on-grid or off-grid.

Grid current
Figure 1: Schematic overview of an on-grid plant
The Solar hybrid support and grid feed systems is used to increase internal consumption of energy generated by
photovoltaics.
Any excesses generated can be fed into the grid. The device can also switch to emergency operation if the grid
supply fails, to supply other loads.
Another power generator can also be connected in the event of a power failure.
The following approximate formula can be used to calculate the system battery capacity:
Power intake of the unit group divided by battery voltage = multiply result by 2 (50% discharge depth) = multiply
result by 3 (3 hours power failure in recent years) = battery capacity required
Example: 2000 Wh : 48 V = 41.66 x 2 x 3 = 249.96 Ah
To cover weak performance levels, it is preferable to select 300 Ah. Experienced help from a KACO-certified installer
should be obtained.
* The battery system stores the energy that can then retrieved and used at a later time if the PV energy is no longer present
or is no longer sufficient.
