The IP address discovered by the program will be the first valid IP address found. If
multiple Ethernet adapters are currently being used on the host computer, the ad-
dress found may not be the adapter connected to the switch.
2 Click the Next button to continue. As Assign IP receives BootP requests, the device will
appear on the display (see Figure 3.2).

A switch that does not have a current valid IP address will continue to contact a BootP
server to locate a valid IP address; if a valid address is not found after a few minutes, the
switch will stop contacting the BootP server. A switch with a valid IP address will only con-
tact a BootP server on power up. The checkbox on the bottom of the page is used to filter
out non-Wavetronix devices that are requesting IP addresses from a BootP server.
