Setup Procedures
Setup Language
Choose between English, German, French, and a set of International symbols to
display in the pull-down menus. Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to highlight
Setup Language. Press Enter to toggle between English, German, and French.
Dim Timer
Use this option to turn the Auto Screen Cutoff function on or off by using the Up and
Down Arrow keys to highlight Dim Timer. Press Enter to toggle between Off, 2, 5, 10,
20, and 30 minutes. The Auto Screen Cutoff functions blanks the screen if no data is
received from the keyboard or a host system for the amount of time specified in the
online Auto Dim Time setup option. See “Auto Dim Time Function” on Page 3-16 for
instructions on how to select the auto dim time.
Dim Style
You must turn the Auto Screen Cutoff function on with the Dim Timer function (above)
in order to use the dim style you choose with this function.
Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to highlight Dim Style and press the Enter key to
toggle to Monitor Off. The Monitor Off selection blanks the entire screen. Press
Enter again to toggle to Status Row Only. The Status Row Only option displays only
the operator status row when the screen is blanked. The symbol appears on the
operator status row. Press any key to restore the screen without adding characters. Also,
if the host initiates a write message, the screen is restored.
If you select Status Row Only, the screen remains blanked with only the status row
displayed for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the status row is also blanked (power down
mode).
To restore a blanked screen, press the Shift key. The screen is also restored when the
control unit writes to the screen.
Coax Indicator
When this feature is turned on, a filled circle ( ) is displayed in column 69 of the status
row to indicate an active coax line while online. A blinking circle indicates a very slow
poll cycle indicative of a coax line being disconnected then reconnected. If your display
station displays a blinking circle, power down the display station for at least 10 seconds
before turning the power on to reestablish communication.
To turn the Coax indicator on or off, highlight Coax Indicator on the Miscellaneous
menu and press the Enter key to toggle the indicator On or Off.
VPD
Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to highlight VPD (Vital Product Data) and press the
Enter key to toggle between On and Off. Turn the VPD option On to send VPD such as
the serial number, the M/C type, the EC number, the manufacturing plant, and the
software level to the controller.
