Setup Procedures

Native Mode

Native mode is available on the 88-key, 102-key, 104-key, and 122-key keyboards. All
122-key keyboard functions and the Keyboard Definition mode are available in Native
mode. To use Native mode, you must be connected to one of the following controllers:

MTX/MTC 1174 Network Controller

Memorex Telex 1274 Control Unit at firmware release level 11.0 or higher

IBM 3174 Control Unit

IBM 3274 Control Unit at configuration support D microcode release level 63.0 or
higher

To use Native mode with a 102-key keyboard, you must be connected to one of the
following controllers:

MTX/MTC 1174 Network Controller

Memorex Telex 1274 Control Unit at firmware release 16.0 or higher (if the 1274
supports Multiple Logic Sessions, firmware release 53.0 or higher)

IBM 3174 Control Unit

The control unit to which the display station is attached must be configured to support
Native mode.

Keyboard Definition Mode

In Native mode, the 1481 supports Keyboard Definition mode. With Keyboard Defi-
nition mode, you can modify the keyboard layout by using the control unit’s Keyboard
Definition Utility. The attached control unit must be configured to support this feature.

Keyboard Controls

This section describes keys on the 88-key, 102-key, 104-key, and 122-key keyboards that
control display station functions.

Alt – Simultaneously press the Alt key and any other key to activate functions specified
on the front key face. Only keys with labeled front faces have Alt (alternate) functions.

Shift – Press and hold the Shift key and press any key with a shifted function on the
keytop to activate that shift function.
