Control Connector Signals
The primary use of the Control connector is to connect the KXPA100 to the transceiver driving it. Schematics
for an interface cable for the KX3 transceiver is shown on page 44 and for an FT817 interface cable is shown on
page 45.
The Control connector uses a female RJ-45 connector. The contact arrangement is shown in Figure 12.
Figure 12. Control Connector Pin Arrangement.
The function of each pin on the Control connector is shown below:
Pin Function
Signal
Description
1
KEY IN
Amplifier Key Line Input. Pull to ground to enable amplification.
Amplifier sources +5V at nominally 1mA current.
2
RADIO TXD
Serial TX Data to KX3. 0V to +12V swing
3
RADIO RXD
Serial RX Data from KX3. Compatible with 0-5V or RS-232 voltage
swings.
4
POWER ON
Power ON Input. +5V turns KX3 on.
5
BDV
Band Detect Voltage Input. 0-5Vdc (Yaesu) or 0 -8Vdc (Icom)
6 GND
Ground
7
ICOM BAND REF
+8V nominal BAND voltage reference from Icom radio
8
ALC
0 to -12V control output. User-adjustable value goes increasingly
negative as output power increases.
