Disengage Meter
To prevent seed metering from one or more meters, for
example for calibration or altered row spacings, you can
uncouple the meter from the meter drive at the drive
coupler.
At the back (left side) of the drive plate, there is a cross
pin at the end of the drive bearing assembly. In normal
operation, this pin is in the deeper detents.
To disable a meter, pull the cross pin away from the
meter. Rotate it 90 degrees and release it into the
shallow detents.
Do not rely exclusively on the drive coupler to shut off a
row. Use the sliding cap as well, if not also tube corks or
baffles.
Note: When re-engaging drive coupler, it is not necessary
to take steps to ensure the cross pin is fully seated
in the deep detents. It automatically seats when
drive operation commences.
Seed Box Tube Cork
Refer to Figure 45
To prevent seed from entering the tubes of unused rows,
optional seed tube corks may be inserted prior to seed
loading.
if a plug is installed, it is not necessary to shut off the
seed meter at the cap.

These corks do not divert seed to open rows, so a small
amount of seed will go unplanted. To prevent seed from
piling at unused rows, baffles (next topic) are available
for some alternate row spacings.
If using baffles, kits include seed tube corks for rows
which cannot accept a baffle (near box partitions and
ends). Corks are unnecessary under baffles.
Seed Box Baffles
Refer to Figure 45, which depicts a baffle converting several
7.5in single-rows into 30in twin-rows.
Optional baffle packages prevent both seed flow into
unused rows, and seed build up above unused rows.
Baffles must be installed prior to seed loading.
If baffles are used, seed tube corks and seed meter
shutoff are unnecessary on the baffled rows.
For installation and use of baffles, consult the manual
supplied with the kit.
