7 Connect and condition the SP Module A

x Reconnect the actuator to the IC system (see section 2.3.2

and section 2.4.2).

x Before switching the actuator to the next position for the first

time rinse all 3 actuator units with solution for 5 min.

8 Check braking range

x Check the braking range of the SP Module A according to

section 4.2.8 and readjust if necessary.

4.2.8 Braking range adjustment

It may be necessary to readjust the braking range of the 793 IC Sample

Prep Module in the following cases (see also section 4.1):

x Actuator switches to next position but display lamp 7

777 no

longer lights up

x When the actuator is exchanged (see section 4.2.7)

The braking range is adjusted by means of adjustment screw 18

"Breakpoint 't" on the rear panel of the 793 IC Sample Prep Module.

Proceed as follows:

1 Condition the cation exchange material

x If the actuator has been cleaned or exchanged then before

switching the actuator to the next position for the first time all

3 actuator units must be rinsed with solution for 5 min.

2 Check the position of the Actuator rotor

x Switch the instrument off and then on again. Switch off actua-

tor remote operation with key 6

666 and operate key

8888 .

x By rotating the SP Module A or with the aid of a mirror check

the position of the actuator rotor according to Fig. 10: at least

one of the three holes of the actuator rotor must be partly or

completely visible through the opening at the bottom of the

actuator block.

x Repeat the procedure 2-3 times; wait at least 10 s each time

before the key is operated.

x If the rotor stops in an unacceptable position then the braking

range must be readjusted (continue with point 3).
