• You can also turn the TA function on or off in
the menu that appears with the pressing of
FUNC.
• The system switches back to the original
source following traffic announcement recep-
tion.
• Only TP and enhanced other network’s TP
stations are tuned in during seek tuning or
BSM when TA is on.
Using PTY functions
You can tune in a station by using PTY infor-
mation.
Searching for an RDS station
by PTY information
You can search for general types of broadcast-
ing programmes, such as those listed in the
PTY list on page 55.

Press FUNC and then press PTY to se-
lect the PTY search mode.

Press any of the buttons 1 – 4 to search
the desired PTY.
The tuner searches for a station broadcasting
the desired PTY.
Notes
• The programme of some stations may differ
from that indicated by the transmitted PTY.
• If no station is broadcasting the type of pro-
gramme you searched for,
“
Not found”
is
displayed for about two seconds and then the
tuner returns to the original station.
Using news programme inter-
ruption
When a news programme is broadcast from a
PTY code news station the unit can switch
from any station to the news broadcast sta-
tion. When the news programme ends, recep-
tion of the previous programme resumes.

Press NEXT until “NEWS” appears.

Press NEWS to turn the news interrup-
tion on.

NEWS” or “N” indicator lights.

NEWS again to turn the news interrup-
tion off.

TA during news programme reception
to cancel the news programme.
You can also cancel the news programme by
pressing
SOURCE, BAND/ESC, , , or
while a news programme is being received.
Receiving PTY alarm broad-
casts
PTY alarm is a special PTY code for announce-
ments regarding emergencies such as natu-
ral disasters. When the tuner receives the
radio alarm code, “
ALARM” appears on the
display and the volume adjusts to the TA vol-
ume. When the station stops broadcasting
the emergency announcement, the system re-
turns to the previous source.
• An emergency announcement can be can-
celled by pressing
TA.
• You can also cancel an emergency an-
nouncement by pressing
SOURCE, BAND/
ESC, , , or .
