Exposure
Choose how the camera sets exposure in P, S, A, and M modes (in
other modes, the camera selects the metering method
automatically).
Metering
Method Description
L Matrix metering
Produces natural results in most situations. Camera
meters a wide area of the frame and sets exposure
according to tone distribution, color, and
composition.
M
Center-weighted
metering Camera meters entire frame but assigns greatest
weight to center area. Classic meter for portraits.
N Spot metering
Camera meters only current focus area, making it
possible to meter off-center subjects. Ensures that
subject will be correctly exposed, even when
background is much brighter or darker.
