Screen 9 of 9 – LINE ACQUISITION – Minimum Curvature
What is Curvature?
Curvature represents the radius of an arc. By definition, curvature is
1
Therefore:
To make a turn “tighter” Æ decrease radius Æ increase curvature
To make a turn “looser” Æ increase radius Æ decrease curvature
What is the Min Curvature?
When the ParaDyme system is engaged, it creates an arc path to acquire the AB line. The radius of this
arc path is defined by the Max and Min Curvature settings. Min Curvature is the radius of the arc when
the vehicle is less than 6 feet from the AB Line, see figure 12.
What does the Min Curvature slider adjust and when to adjust it?
The slider adjusts the curvature of the arc ParaDyme uses to acquire the AB line when less than 6 feet
from the AB Line.
• Increase Min Curvature when the vehicle gets within 4 to 6 feet of the AB line and then is too
slow at getting to the AB Line, see figure 5.
• Decrease Min Curvature if the vehicle is too aggressive at acquiring the AB line when within 4
to 6 feet of the AB line, see figure 5. Decrease to help keep the vehicle from overshooting the
AB line.
