Screen 8 of 9 – LINE ACQUISITION – Target Point Distance Close
What is the Target Point Distance Close?
Is the distance the ParaDyme system is looking ahead when in Line Acquisition Mode and less than 4
to 6 feet from the AB Line. Figure 14 shows an example of how the Target Point Distance changes as it
is increased and decreased.
What does the Target Point Distance Close slider adjust and when to adjust it?
The slider adjusts the look ahead, or Target Point Distance Close, when the vehicle is greater less than
4 to 6 feet from the AB Line. Increasing the slider, makes the look ahead distance longer and
decreasing it makes it shorter.
• Increase the slider when the vehicle is overshooting the AB Line, see figure 5.
• Decrease the slider when the vehicle needs to get to the AB Line quicker or be more aggressive
at acquiring the line.
• Decrease the slider if the vehicle is smooth at getting to the AB Line and then weaves when 4 to
6 feet from the AB Line.
NOTE: This parameter has a minimal effect on how the vehicle acquires the line. Changing Max
Curvature has a more noticeable effect on the vehicle acquiring the line.
RULE OF THUMB: Set Minimum Curvature to less the 0.25 of Max Curvature. Small changes to
Minimum Curvature are very hard to observe.
