What is the Heading Gain Factor?
Heading Gain Factor is a number that Heading (used for line holding mode) is multiplied by to give a
new Heading
Heading (Line Acquisition Mode) = Heading Gain Factor * Heading (Line Holding Mode)
What does the Heading Gain Factor slider adjust and when to adjust it?
In the Heading Gain Factor screen, Heading for Line Acquisition Mode is adjusted. The steps to
determine a setting for Heading Gain Factor are:
1) Set Swath width at 250 ft .
2) Drive the vehicle, at operating speed, parallel or at a slight angle away from the AB Line.
3) Engage the ParaDyme system at an off line distance of 100 feet or greater.
4) View the graph and the heading (nose) of the vehicle.
a. Increase Heading Gain Factor if vehicle is not weaving.
b. Decrease Heading Gain Factor if vehicle is weaving back and forth
NOTE: Refer to figure 5
5) Set Heading Gain Factor as high as possible until the vehicle heading does not weave. Once the
vehicle starts to weave, lower Heading Gain Factor to a point where it does not weave. See
Figure 13 ‐ Heading Gain Factor.
